We all get a little down in the dumps sometimes, but for some folks, Depression is a major issue that affects their lives in very heinous ways.
The National Institute for Mental Health (NIMH) estimates that in the United States, 16 million adults had at least one major depressive episode in 2012. That's 6.9 percent of the population. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression.
Over the years, many methods of remedying depression have been tried. Counseling, Psycho therapy, anti-depressant pharmaceuticals, all are pretty much common place nowadays; but there is hope on the horizon in the form of the benefits that CBD Oil can afford a person suffering from depression.
I will never knock therapy and counseling. Talking about your problems with a licensed therapist or Psychologist can be very beneficial and should never be dissuaded. However, I am not a fan of the mind altering and life damaging medications that are prescribed for depression.
I have seen first hand how zombie like people can become on these pills and have always thought that there had to be a better way. This is where CBD Oil comes in. Cannabidoil has many benefits to combat anxiety and depression and studies are being conducted on the matter.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a constituent non-psychotomimetic of Cannabis sativa with great psychiatric potential, including uses as an antidepressant-like and anxiolytic-like compound according to PubMed.com. CBD is an extremely effective antidepressant studies are beginning to find.
A study done on OBX mice (mice which are surgically modified to act as a stand in for testing of depression medications) found that the mice that were treated with CBD showed an almost instant improvement in their condition – around 30 minutes after the CBD injection the mice were observed having a noticeable decline in hyperactivity, which is a symptom of anxiety and depression in humans according to MarijuanaTimes.com.
"Unfortunately, due to the schedule I status of cannabis it has been difficult to do studies on the subject of CBD and depression until recently. However, this could soon change if congress were to pass the CARERS Act, which would successfully remove cannabidiol from the controlled substances act all together, while also rescheduling cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule II – which is something scientists, doctors, and advocates of reform have been hoping to see for years now.
The fact that CBD could be used as an effective treatment for depression – and that it could start helping patients feel better within an hour of starting treatment – is simply incredible in and of itself. There are millions of people suffering from depression in the United States alone – antidepressants can be dangerous, addictive and expensive for life-long treatment; but CBD oil would be a safe and almost instantaneously effective."
